The Governor

Nicole “Cole” Gerringer had been a chaperone, off on a backcountry camping trip with her niece and sixty-five other eighth grade girls. In the midst of the trip, a massive flare was ejected from the surface of the sun, directed at the earth. It destroyed all the modern-day conveniences; no more computers, cellphones, electricity, or cars… a global catastrophe. In the struggle to survive, millions upon millions of people have died of starvation, illnesses, and wide-spread violence.

Cole, elected Regional Governor of the former northwestern states, has brought survivors together and under her leadership, they begin to re-build a society in the wilderness. Yet, there are those who would use her to control the Region and steal or destroy the hard-earned achievements of her people. A military newcomer to the Region, with a hidden agenda, arrives on a mission to protect Cole, but events cascade beyond his control. If she does not survive, not only will the Region’s stability be at risk, but the fate of the nation may hang in the balance as well.
